About SolarGenPros
We review portable power stations and solar panels using watt-hours-per-dollar math, real charging speed data, and LFP cycle life analysis. No manufacturer sponsors. No paid placements.
What We Do
SolarGenPros.com is an independent review site for solar generators and portable power equipment. We focus on three things:
- Wh-per-dollar analysis. Sticker price means nothing without capacity context. We calculate cost per usable kilowatt-hour for every power station, accounting for real-world delivery efficiency (typically 80-90% of rated capacity).
- Chemistry transparency. LFP vs NMC cycle life, thermal stability, and weight tradeoffs are explained for every product. The chemistry determines how long the station lasts, which changes the true 5-year cost dramatically.
- Real charging speed testing. Manufacturer charging claims are measured under ideal conditions. We cross-reference spec sheets with community-reported real-world times and note where gaps exist.
We do not accept free products in exchange for reviews. Rankings are based on specs, independent test data, and community feedback from forums like r/SolarDIY and r/vandwellers.
Affiliate Disclosure
SolarGenPros.com is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the site without display ads or sponsored content.
Affiliate commissions do not influence our rankings. We recommend what the data supports — not what pays the highest rate.
Affiliate programs we participate in:
Amazon Associates
Product links for brands sold on Amazon use our Associates tag (solargenpros-20). We earn 1-4% on qualifying purchases. The commission rate is the same regardless of which product you buy.
Jackery (via Impact)
5% commission, 30-day cookie. Direct links go to Jackery.com. Commission rate does not change our rankings — Jackery products are listed where their specs place them.
Bluetti (Direct)
5-10% tiered commission, 30-day cookie. Higher commission than Amazon. Our Bluetti reviews still note the app quality gap and the heavier weight for the same capacity.
EcoFlow (via ShareASale), Renogy (via ShareASale), Goal Zero (via FlexOffers/CJ)
5-8% commission depending on program and volume tier. Same editorial standards apply to all brands — pros and cons are not adjusted based on commission rates.
How We Evaluate Products
- Usable capacity vs rated capacity. We note the gap between manufacturer-stated Wh and real-world delivery, factoring in inverter losses and protection cutoffs.
- Chemistry classification. LFP or NMC? We verify this from spec sheets — not from marketing copy, which sometimes uses vague terms like "lithium battery."
- Continuous vs peak wattage. Peak wattage claims are noted but continuous output is what matters for real appliances. We flag every case where peak is used to mislead.
- Solar input limits. We verify the maximum solar input (watts) and the charge controller voltage/current limits that determine real-world panel compatibility.
- 5-year cost modeling. Purchase price divided by cycle count to 80% capacity gives cost-per-cycle. We calculate this for every station so you can compare total value, not just sticker price.
FTC Compliance
In accordance with FTC guidelines, we disclose our affiliate relationships throughout this site: in the site footer, at the bottom of each review page, and in full on this page.
Clicking an affiliate link does not change the price you pay. The retailer pays us a commission from their margin — your cost is the same whether you use our link or go directly.
